ELDERLY PEOPLE IN CAMBODIA: « MANO CHA » PREMIERES AT METAIn Cambodia there are almost one million people aged 65 and older. The slow-paced documentary MANO CHA (2007, 60 mins, English subs) by French filmmaker Catherine Martin-Payen is an intimate ballad, dedicated to the elderly in Cambodia and Thailand. She introduces us to Tek Sovan, who dwells upon his past as a French parachutist, surrounded by children. Yey Man is a masseur for his neighbours of the water-borne village, and makes divination at night. With all of them, solutions for getting old and facing the approaching death are told.
